Craigslist, ahhhhh, the Wild Wild West

It's been a very, very long weekend. After Mr. M and I had some disagreements, ahem, we packed up everything we planned on bringing from the main home up to the now second home. There wasn't much, mostly kitchen wares, clothing, small furniture, linens, bathroom stuff. We planned on buying most of the big furniture in town so we didn't have to travel with it, so we packed the basics and important things we needed to get by with.

Mishap #1 - Somehow the most important box got left behind. The box with all of the toiletries. You know, the ones I went out last week and bought to save us time. Ooopppssiiieess. So we had to make an emergency trip to Target. Cost = $263.

After that we were set for a day, but we were still without Internet service. This was not good, and as you can imagine, Mr. M was laid into about the situation. Luckily the owner of the property came through late Saturday evening, though the service goes out now and then, especially when Mr. M tries to connect.

Today I spent the day trudging to all the antique shops. Lesson learned. The first shop was closed Mon and Tue. The second shop I almost laughed at the man. Maybe I just don't know my antiques, but seriously, $15k for an area rug? I'm sorry, if you have $100k to spend on ONE ROOM in your house, you need to rethink your priorities, because YOU are what's wrong with America. Yes, I'm judging you. Long story short, I'm returning to Craigslist.

So far we have picked up a gorgeous antique table I'm using for a desk, a bed, and very shortly a couch will be had. Our dining set came from Mr. M's Mom, it's actually a patio set that she has no where to put for the winter, so we are "storing" it in our kitchen until next summer. I know this post is extremely boring, but I've been having fun trying to find the exact things I see in my head. We've also collected a few rugs, and essentials like a shower curtain that somehow tones down the only room that is painted, BRIGHT YELLOW. I will be posting photos shortly.

I am totally in love with the house, the grounds are awesome, we can pretty much look out any of our windows during the day and see deer. There are peacocks somewhere and we almost hit a chicken or turkey or something on the road today. Sheep are in our front yard, horses are everywhere, and yet we are close to everything. We have a totally cool circular drive, woot! No more backing down a long drive! Mr. M's brother is right around the corner so we will be seeing more of them now as well.

Now, if we could only get our printer working I'd be in business.....
